IUCEA conducts induction for regional working group on TVET harmonisation

Panelists discuss TVET harmonization at one of the sessions at the regional workshop on TVET Harmonization

The Inter University Council for East Africa (IUCEA), the EASTRIP Regional Facilitation Unit (RFU), organized an induction workshop for the Regional Technical Working Group on Harmonization of Qualifications Framework, Occupational Standards and Curriculum.

The Induction workshop was held on 2nd December 2020 and it was organised to familiarise the members of the Technical Working Group with their roles and responsibilities. During the meeting IUCEA Ag. Executive Secretary, Prof. Mike Kuria, focus on facilitating regional integration by ensuring that they create policies that facilitate movement of skilled professionals across the region.

The workshop follows the appointment of the Technical Working Group as one the recommendations of the regional meeting on Harmonisation of TVET curriculum, occupational standards and qualification frameworks held in March 2020 in Nairobi, Kenya.

The World Bank Team Leader Dr. Xiaoyan Liang challenged members to come up with practical solutions on TVET harmonisation through bilateral and regional mutual recognition of curricula and TVET qualifications.

Harmonization of TVET qualifications frameworks, occupational standards and curriculum to facilitate movement of skilled labour in the East African region is one of the key outputs of the EASTRIP Project.
