Dire Dawa Polytechnic College held a ground-breaking ceremony, on 29th May 2021, for the construction of the Regional Flagship TVET Institute in Railway Transport. The ceremony was officiated by His Excellence, Dr. Samuel Urkato, the Minister and His Excellence Dr. Mulu Nega, the State Minister of Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Ministry of Science and Higher Education. His Excellence Ato Ahmed Buh, Mayor of Dire Dawa Administration and other government officials attended the ceremony.
The ground-breaking ceremony was marked by symbolic laying of a Foundation Stone. The team also visited the training workshops at the colleage, smart classrooms and the toured new buildings at the College. At the end of the ceremony Dr. Samuel Urkato, the Minister of Science and Higher Education urged the college to work hard to fulfill the required criteria to be upgraded to a University.
