The Kisumu National Polytechnic (TKNP), through its vision to be a world class polytechnic in the provision of technical, vocational, entrepreneurial training and research, values quality service delivery as their driving force. To this end, the Polytechnic recognizes the need to develop policies as a guiding tool towards the enhancement of the institutions operations.

The TKNP Regional Flagship TVET Institute for Textile Technology has made this achievable through providing capacity building for trainers in policy development in such areas as Women in Technical Education and Development (WITED) which seeks to promote women’s participation in Science and Technology. This previously ignored domain is now deemed a high priority, integral to the nation’s development.

Other key policies include Gender mainstreaming policy, gender based violence policy, intellectual property policy, Whistleblower policy, anticorruption policy and Enterprise policy. The purpose of the gender policy is to operationalize gender mainstreaming thereby ensuring that both men and women have equitable access to the tools of development and are able to use the same tools to better the institution and their own lives.

The enterprise policy, on the other hand, focuses on promoting enterprise and entrepreneurship and creating the necessary conditions that will enable businesses at the TKNP to start and grow. This move will also help in producing trainee graduates who are entrepreneurial minded and self-dependent.
