As part of the capacity building efforts for Regional Flagship TVET Institutes (16), the Inter-University Council for East African, the EASTRIP Regional Facilitation Unit, held a capacity building workshop for Industry Liaison Officers and Monitoring and Evaluation Specialists. The training took place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and it involved trainees from 16 RFTIs supported by the EASTRIP project.

The training was participatory, with roundtable-discussions which  allowed to interact and discuss topics in groups with a representative to convey their views during plenary discussion.  Participants were for instance asked to critique the design of the EASTRIP interventions and why the do what they do. They offered mixed feelings on the design and components and thereafter started to ask questions to the facilitator on what can be done if there are challenges in design.

The training of Industry Liaison Officers involved experience sharing on developing maintaining partnerships between TVET Institutes and industry. The trainer shared a case study of Salem TVET College and what the college was doing to enhance partnerships with industry.
