The Technical and Vocational Training Institute (TVTI) in Ethiopia held capacity building and training for staff of the institute in Gender Mainstreaming.
The training provided participants with relevant knowledge, skills and values to contribute to the effective implementation of the gender-mainstreaming strategy in their field, organization, institution or country. The training was organized to understand and improve the gender mainstreaming practices in Ethiopian TVET colleges specifically in ETU and Satellite colleges.
A total of 70 participants (20 women & 50 men) from TVTI participate in the training program. It addressed the issue of gender equality, gender mainstreaming and offering tools to perform their duties effectively while promoting the principle of equality and women’s rights in interventions. Training was provided in the basic concepts of gender equality, gender mainstreaming and Gender Responsive Pedagogy and it expected to contribute to institutional strengthening and lead to a greater engagement with gender equality in development work.
