KIHBT sends staff for Practical skills development at Pan African Equipment Group

Kenya Institute of Highways and Building Technology is in the process of attaching two of its staff whose designation are Plant Operator III and Instructor to Pan African Equipment Group for a Trainer Technical Assessment Course. This is aimed at improving their competence in Plant and Equipment.

The institute in collaboration with the industry is in the third phase of Development of Demand Driven Curricula which took place from 26th April to 30th April,2021.

Trainers and experts from the Industry are expected to evaluate occupational standards for the core units named.

  1. Road Construction
  2. Construction Site Safety
  3. Construction Plant Mechanics
  4. Drainage Construction.

Additionally, the team will develop curricula for common units, basic units, and assessment tools.

Low Volume Seal Roads

This is a labour-based method of road construction that aims at substituting machines with manual labour while still maintaining quality work and cost competitiveness. This approach maximizes on employment and transfer of skills to the target group.
