Dire Dawa Polytechnic College carried out staff attachment to industries for practical training.

Thirteen (13) trainers from Dire Dawa Polytechnic College are undertaking 45 days industrial attachment in 6 industries for practical training. The attachment followed a skills gap assessment conducted by the EASTRIP Project Implementation Unit (PIU). The six industries identified were those which are in line with the project priority programs and the trainers were form Electric, Manufacturing and Automotive departments.

Since the partnership established and industrial link created is too strong, during attachment the industries provided the trainers Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for safety regulations, assign senior industry experts for the practical training and the attachment is undertaking in a great hospitality by the industries. On the other hand, the teachers are solving those problems that the industries faced.

The College in partnership with industry has also developed six short-term courses which have been accredited by TVET agency. These include Welding, Building electrical installation, ICT, Mobile maintenance, Electric technology and Computer maintenance and network installation. . A total of 78 students of which 18 are female were enrolled, trained, graduate and employed.
